Leith Churches Together & The Ocean Terminal Project
In Leith, the 5 Churches of Scotland, along with the United Reformed Church, 2 Baptist Churches, Methodist, Scottish Episcopal, United Free, Ukrainian Catholic, Roman Catholic and the Salvation Army, have given the Christian faith an active presence in the largest retail shopping centre in Edinburgh, which enables all these Churches to reach out together, to the thousands of shop workers there; to the hundreds of thousands of shoppers; and to the whole Leith community. This enables them to show to many who would never come into a church building something of the breadth and love involved in their faith.
Thanks to good relations with Ocean Terminal Management they have the use of any public space in the Terminal to use creatively e.g. they have had two packed “Fischy Music” afternoons for shoppers and their families: exhibitions and events to mark One World Week, Fair Trade, Hiroshima Day, Christian Aid; Summer Missions etc. – these often take place at different sites in the Terminal as well as the Forum.

Leith Waterfront is being developed dramatically by Forth Ports Authority with a whole new town growing up. This Project will offer a Christian presence at the heart of the Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre, which is the focal point for the whole Leith Waterfront area.
